Summer jobs for teenagers: How to get one for a holistic summer

Teenage students and youths preparing for a summer job should begin early to land a lucrative job. It is even more important during the time of unstable economic environment, during which graduates are finding it difficult to get even a menial job. They must analyze their interest and look for job that best suits their interest. However, there is a procedure to get a job, which these youngsters are unaware of.

Therefore, it is essential for all the summer job seekers to know the procedure of getting one.

Tips to get a summer job

Here is a summarized guide to find a summer job:

a)      Curriculum Vitae (CV) – Every job seeker must have well researched and impeccable curriculum vitae printed in a neat style. A CV should provide all the basic whereabouts of a person. It should include the applicant’s contact information, work experience, and qualifications. Moreover, a CV should also have the details of any kind of co-curricular activities one may have been involved in.

b)     Networking – Networking is one of the most important things for every person looking for the most suitable job for themselves. So, every job seeker should speak to working professionals, relatives and friends about various job opportunities available in the vicinity of their homes.

c)      Job search – One should keep a tab on most of the newspapers and other local publications to learn about any impending job interview. Besides this, a job seeker may take the help of online job portals, job bulletin boards (that are put up on various institutions), community centers and libraries. It is good to speak directly with managers of restaurant or retail store and enquire about any possibility of getting hired.

d)     Professional outlook – Job seekers should display some amount of professionalism when speaking to prospective employers. It is good to have a business card that can be distributed to people who are potential employers.

Moreover, a job seeker’s attire during the day of the interview should be formal and show minimalism. A well fitted dress along with a healthy attitude will help a job seeker to stand out amongst other candidates and impress his/her employer.
