There is still more from where that came from. The next one is only a fortnight away.

Enjoy!

The Bureau of Public Debt has provided this terrific online money game called “TreasuryDirect Kids” which is SOOOO interesting that I’m surprised it’s only for kids!

I found myself scrolling through hungrily devouring ALL the information. It’s just that fascinating! ;o)

There are five sections individually filled with facts that will knock the socks off you. It did me! ;o)

“What is Debt?” is followed by “The History of U.S. Public Debt.” Finally, I understand where, when and why the U.S. is in so much debt.

“The Basics of Treasury Securities” defines treasury securities, savings bonds, bills, notes, bonds and TIPS (treasury inflation-protected securities).

Then there’s “How Treasury Securities Work” where you learn about auctions, Wall Street, The Federal Reserve Bank and saving and investing.

Last, but not least, is “The Art of Bonds,” my favorite section. There are lots of posters to look at selling bonds and old TV commercials selling bonds. One has Superman (George Reeves) hawking bonds. ;o)

There are two games. Save Perry’s Pennies is where you help Perry capture and save every cent and win. Then remember the game “Concentration?” Well, here it is called “Test Your Money Memory” where you match some common imagery and terms used at the Bureau and win. There’s easy, medium and hard versions. I loved playing the Money Memory game!

Also, there’s a four-lesson curriculum supplement for middle school math classes, teaching math concepts using real-life examples from personal finance called “Money Math: Lessons for Life.” This 86-page book has lesson plans, reproducible activity pages and tips.

Cheers … Amanda van der Gulik … Excited Life Enthusiast! ;o)

Can you believe that this is already the ninth post about fun resources and games for kids to help with their financial education?
